What we remove
Asbestos removal services
It's very likely that if your house was constructed before 1990, the fence, the eaves or the roof will contain asbestos cement. We can arrange for this to be removed for you.
Asbestos Fence Removal
The old Super Six fencing and the fences made up of flat sheets are taken away, including the part that is buried in the ground. Arrangement of the new fencing is possible.
Asbestos Roof Removal
The corrugated asbestos cement roofs of houses, sheds, garages and patios are safely removed so that a new roof can be installed.
Eaves, Walls & Ceilings
Before you carry out your renovation or demolition, the asbestos-containing eaves, wall cladding, and the linings of the bathroom and laundry will be removed.

A Perth problem
Why Perth has so much asbestos
Perth carried out the majority of its growth during the same periods when asbestos cement was the preferred building material; that is the reason for its presence in so many of our backyards.
Post-war boom
After the war Perth had a population of about 280,000 and experienced rapid growth. Since asbestos cement was cheap and light it was used in thousands of new houses.
Suburbs spread
The mining boom caused new suburbs to spread out along the freeways and Super Six was adopted as the standard type of backyard fence.
Phased out
The use of asbestos was discontinued in building materials and it is very likely that houses built before that time contain it.
Banned
Asbestos was prohibited throughout Australia by the end of 2003 and any that is currently in homes remains there until it is taken out.
Still out there
The city of Greater Perth has a population of more than 2.3 million and its more established suburbs still contain asbestos fences, eaves and roofs.
Sandy soil
Perth is situated on the sandy Swan Coastal Plain and old fence sheets are buried deep in that sand, which is why a correct method of removal involves digging out the entire sheet and not just the part that is visible.
Sun and heat
Perth is the capital city of Australia that receives the most sunshine, with about 3,200 hours of sunlight each year; decades of this sunshine have made the asbestos cement brittle and more prone to cracking.
Sea breeze and storms
The afternoon Fremantle Doctor and the winter storm fronts are the reason the sheets are kept wet, removed in their entirety and wrapped immediately.

About Asbestos Removal Perth
We are an asbestos removal service that operates locally in Perth and is based in Western Australia, aiming to eliminate the trouble associated with asbestos removal.
More asbestos can be found in homes in Perth than in almost any other place in Australia, and it is difficult to work out who can legally carry out the removal. We've simplified things by allowing you to call or send us a message regarding the job, after which we will match you with a licensed removalist who operates in your area and provides you with a fixed price.

Asbestos removal FAQs
Is it possible for me to carry out the removal of asbestos myself in WA?
Homeowners can legally remove up to 10 m² of bonded (non-friable) asbestos, following strict safety steps. Anything over 10 m², and any friable asbestos, must be removed by a WorkSafe WA licensed removalist. Most fences and roofs are well over 10 m².
What is the way of telling whether or not my house contains asbestos?
The WA Government advises that homes built before the mid-1980s are highly likely to contain asbestos products, and homes built up to 1990 are likely to. Common spots are fences, eaves, roofs, wall cladding and bathroom or laundry linings. Testing a sample is the only way to be sure.
Will asbestos pose a danger if I don't do anything about it?
Bonded asbestos in good condition is low risk when left undisturbed. The danger comes when it's cut, drilled, broken, sanded or badly weathered, which can release fibres.
Who is responsible for the removal?
Every job is carried out by an independent, WorkSafe WA licensed asbestos removalist. We organise the quote and match your job with a removalist who covers your area and holds the right licence for the work, whether the asbestos is bonded or friable.
What takes place on the day the asbestos is removed?
The removalist sets up the work area, keeps the material wet to control dust, removes sheets whole where possible, wraps everything in heavy plastic and takes it to an approved disposal site. A clearance inspection confirms the area is safe.
Shall I make my neighbour aware of the fence being removed?
If it's a dividing fence, talk to your neighbour first. Under WA's Dividing Fences Act, neighbours often share the cost of a replacement fence.
